The best iPhone Apps for Youth Ministry 2015/2016

This year has been a great one for tech-savvy youth ministers. I tested dozens of new apps and kept only a hand full. Here I introduce my personal iPhone and iPad app favourites for youth ministry. All of them trench tested over the last 6 months and definitely worth an investment. I posted about the best iPhone Apps for bloggers a while ago here.

MinHub Youth App

MinHub Youth (previously Youth Ministry Tracker) is the database solution for youth pastors to automate administrative tasks in student ministry, creating more time to care for students. This app definitely is the best app for youth ministry. Kids can add their own info right on your device. There’s no more transferring from a visitors card to your database. You can share the database with your leaders, create smart & managed groups based on student and event data and send personalized texts to groups using your existing texting plan. Easily take attendance by tapping on images in grid view or list view. Add new students right from the attendance screen during an event. With the recently added Dropbox sync function youth pastors are able to share the database with their team. Great tool!

Now you can create beautifully custom text layouts that would normally take minutes – or even hours – with just a tap. Get inspired by hundreds of quotes, thoughts, and jokes so you’re never at a loss for words. It’s like a graphic designer in your pocket. Who doesn’t want a graphic designer in their pocket? I use it for event announcements: Simply add a picture and text. The app designs the rest for you. Saved me a lot of time – and helped make announcements awesome.

Scan Me

A great scanner app for receipts and documents. It’s a PDF & JPG scanner for your pocket. Generates scans and recognises texts by facilitating the latest scan technology with a brilliant text recognition software. I use it to back up expenses and prints of youth ministry curriculums.

Now Play

If you play group games with kids and youth Now Play helps you make the most of it! Take control of the atmosphere in the room and motivate your players to give their absolute best. This innovative tool equips you with brilliant effects and music for every imaginable group game out there. We use it as a soundboard for during games. The best app if you haven’t prepared a playlist for games during youth group. I like the fact that it has a button for announcements. Pushed the music will play in slowmotion in the background so the game host can talk. Youth min app made in Germany.

Mind Node

MindNode makes mind mapping delightful. Mind maps are a visual representation of your ideas, starting with a central thought and growing from there. MindNode allows you to brainstorm, organize & share your thoughts in an intuitive way, so you can focus on the idea behind it. The clean interface lets you concentrate on generating and connecting thoughts, and an infinitely expanding canvas means that no matter how big or complicated your project gets, MindNode can keep up. I use it for brainstorming and mind mapping small groups and team organisation.
